Vik Solem founded Mabuhay Enterprises Inc., now doing business as MEI Security, in 2007 to provide cybersecurity consulting to commercial organizations and physical-security training to individuals. Today, our team brings together security, infrastructure, and software experience to help people protect the systems they depend on.
Based in Stoughton, Massachusetts, USA.
Our story
Our approach is grounded in more than forty years of hands-on engineering and security experience.
Our founder’s engineering career began in the late 1970s, programming systems from DEC mainframes to modern servers. A decade at BBN, where the early internet took shape, built a lasting interest in how networks and applications fit together. That experience informs how we assess systems and plan changes.
Managing the internal network at @stake brought firsthand experience supporting security consultants and understanding advanced threats and defensive strategies. We bring that practical perspective to both digital and physical risk.

President and Founder

Vik started MEI in 2007 after working in security across small startups, large companies, and university environments. His engineering curiosity began with taking things apart and putting them back together, and continues to shape his approach to understanding risk.
His interests span digital and physical security. He enjoyed cryptanalysis conversations with members of the L0pht community before joining @stake, and his interest in martial arts includes both the art and self-defense.
Vice President of Operations

Phil came to the security industry following 30 years in manufacturing and distribution in the Boston area. His experience includes analog and digital electronics, lasers and optics, beam-delivery systems, medical and industrial imaging, and material processing.
With a focus on hardware, Phil has helped teams, departments, and companies grow from inception to $20 million in annual revenue. His work has taken him throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He is a United States Air Force veteran who served at NORAD air-space-defense installations.
